The Latest in Overlay Technology
Well-Suited for Sliding-Wear Environments
The SSAB Hardox Wearparts network of more than 200 service centers, located in 65 countries, now offers the Duroxite line of overlay products—abrasion-resistant materials designed to be deposited on top of mild steel or SSAB's Hardox wear plate to create a wear-resistant compound material. The Duroxite overlay works especially well in sliding-wear environments where small, hard materials are processed—such as coal with high quartz content. It also plays an important role as a wear-resistant material in high-temperature environments. Continue Reading
Small Robots Ready for Work in Tight Spaces
Italy-based Comau presents the extension of its small robot family for quick applications in restricted spaces, including material handling, machine tending, assembly and pick-and-place, by introducing two new robots: the Racer 5-0.63 and Racer 5-0.80. Both are controlled by the R1C 19-in. rack-mounted controller, which can be integrated into a single cabinet to control an entire line. Continue Reading
Waterjet Mini Hopper Allows Operators to Easily Adjust Abrasive Flow
Waterjet-systems manufacturer Jet Edge, Inc., St. Michael, MN, introduces its variable-aperture Permalign V-Series Mini Hopper. By allowing waterjet operators to easily make adjustments to abrasive flow, minimizing abrasive consumption, the hopper promises to increase cutting productivity and profitability. Its water-resistant design helps prevent annoying abrasive clogs that can cause stoppages and scrapping of expensive material. Continue Reading
Small, Light Fume-Extraction Weld Gun
RoboVent, Sterling Heights, MI, has released a new fume gun that captures 90 to 95 percent of weld fumes at the source, in a package just slightly larger than a standard weld gun. The RoboVent Extractor integrates a high-performance gas-metal-arc-welding gun with a powerful source-extraction system to capture fumes as soon as they are generated. Continue Reading
Windows Protect, Extend Service Life of Laser-System Optics
Fiber Shield windows from Mate Precision Tooling, Anoka, MN, are designed to protect precision lenses in laser systems and increase their lifetimes. They shield valuable optic components in laser-beam delivery systems from debris, fumes and other pollutants during processing. Continue Reading
